Questions and answers
The rules are explained step by step on the “How to play” page; here are the questions people ask most.
Is the game free?
Yes. The game is free and runs in the browser on phones and computers. There is nothing to install.
Do I need an account?
No. You can play straight away, and your results are saved in this browser. If you clear your browser data or switch devices, you start from scratch.
When does a new round appear?
Every day at midnight, Rome time. After you finish a round, the game shows how long it is until the next one.
Can I change my answer?
No. Each question has one try, and tapping the globe locks in your answer straight away. Before that you can spin and zoom the map as much as you like.
How are points calculated?
Each question earns 0 to 100 points depending on how far you are from the right place. Question 3 counts twice and questions 4 and 5 three times, so the best score for a day is 1,000 points. The details are on the “How to play” page.
Can I play the rounds from previous days?
For now, only the current day’s round can be played. A round started before midnight can still be finished after midnight, though.
How do I share my score?
After the last question, press “Share your score”. You send your points and five coloured dots but no answers, so you can show off before others have played.
Where do the questions come from?
The questions are based on Scripture, the teaching and tradition of the Church, and reliable sources such as encyclopaedias and the official websites of shrines. We check the location of every place in open geographic databases, and apparitions and Eucharistic miracles appear in the game only if the Church has recognised them.
Why is there sometimes more than one right place?
For some biblical events, tradition and archaeology point to different sites, for example for Cana in Galilee or Emmaus. In that case each of them is correct and the one closest to your tap counts.
Which languages can I play in?
Polish, English, French and Spanish. You can change the language in the menu (☰).
Is GeoFides an official game of the Church?
No. It is an independent project, not officially connected with the Church or the Holy See. We do our best to prepare the content faithfully to the Church’s teaching.
