How to play

GeoFides is a daily game about places of faith. Every day brings five questions about the life of Jesus, the journeys of the apostles, shrines, miracles, saints and the history of the Church. You answer by tapping the place on the globe where it happened.

One round a day

A new round starts every day at midnight, Rome time. Everyone gets the same five questions that day, so it is easy to compare scores with family and friends.

A round started before midnight can still be finished after midnight.

How to answer

Read the question and tap the place on the globe. You can spin and zoom the globe, but the tap itself locks in your answer, and each question has only one try.

Three maps

Most questions are played on the whole-world map. Questions about the Bible and the apostles often show the Bible lands (the Middle East, Egypt and the eastern Mediterranean), and questions about the life of Jesus usually the Holy Land, from Galilee to the Negev desert. The map’s name is shown above the question.

The smaller the map, the more precise you need to be. A full score needs a tap within about 17 km on the world map, about 4 km in the Bible lands and about 1 km in the Holy Land.

Points

Each answer earns 0 to 100 points: the closer to the right place, the more. On the world map, missing by 500 km still gives about 88 points, and by 5,000 km about 50. In the Holy Land, 10 km off already means about 82 points.

Later questions are worth more: questions 1 and 2 count once, question 3 twice, and questions 4 and 5 three times. The best possible score for a day is 1,000 points.

Every answer gets a coloured dot:

  • 🕊️ Perfect: 100 points
  • 🟢 Great: 90–99 points
  • 🟡 Ballpark: 50–89 points
  • 🔴 Miles off: 1–49 points
  • ⚫ Antipodal: 0 points

Countries and several right places

When the answer is a whole country, as in questions about patron saints, a tap anywhere inside it earns 100 points. Outside the border, points depend on how far away you are and never exceed 89.

When tradition points to more than one place, as with Cana in Galilee or Emmaus, each of them is correct and the one closest to your tap counts.

After each answer

You will see where the right place is and how many kilometres away your tap landed, then read a short story about the place.

At the end of the round you get a summary and a result to share: your points and five coloured dots. The shared result gives away no answers, so you can send it before others have played.
